Meedio Update on MeedioTV Progress
Posted by: rampy on Friday, October 22, 2004 - 11:18 AM
Software

Meedio (formerly myHTPC) has posted an update on the status of their MeedioTV PVR plugin for their HTPC frontend media center software.

From the announcement:

"Although our development plan for Meedio TV is mostly on track we will be moving the schedule out slightly. We now expect the first pre-release version of Meedio TV to be distributed on or before Saturday, October 30. This will be a free download but will be limited in functionality and hardware support so that we can concentrate on testing some of the basic components first. While we encourage everyone to post their experiences to the forum we may not be able to respond to support questions until the final version is released.

(read more or go to the Meedio announcment thread)

(announcement text continued)

There will likely be several pre-release versions distributed before the final release. We expect the final version to be complete by the end of November, and to be followed by two free updates which will include additional features. During the pre-release period we will be offering users the option of purchasing Meedio TV licenses at a discount. Those licenses will be valid for all release and pre-release versions; otherwise the pre-release versions will expire when the final version is distributed.

Below is a list of the features that we expect to be provided in each release (A '?' means it may be included but is at risk):

Note that many of the hardware devices may actually work before the final release but we would like to focus our first pre-release testing on the Hauppauge cards.

As mentioned previously, Meedio TV will be sold as a standalone application for $59.95 or in a bundle with Meedio Essentials for $99.95. Users who were registered on our forums prior to July 27, 2004 are eligible for a discount (check your eligibility here). Existing users of Meedio Essentials will be able to upgrade to the Meedio bundle for the difference between the two prices - i.e. $40 less any applicable discounts.

Below are some screenshots of the current version which was shown at DigitalLife. The theme is a simple default theme which of course can be customized. Meedio TV will support the same theme capabilities as Meedio Essentials, and when bundled with Meedio Essentials will support the same plugin capabilities."
